Why should you hire an ex-pastry chef to help you create a web strategy?
The answer is easy! I know what it takes to run a business because I used to be the owner of one.
Back in the day I was the owner and operator of a small artisan bread bakery. The last thing on my mind was a website; I knew I needed one, but I just never seemed to have enough time, money, energy or resources to invest in the process, that was until a customer asked me if I had a website.
I replied “not yet, its in the works. (Come to think of it,I always seem to have a lot of things in the works.) I talked to a few designers but at the end of the day I decided to take the bull by the horns and build one myself, how hard could it be? Not to mention think of the money I was going to save! Truth be told I didn’t want to spend the money! It took some trial and error, and more error, but eventually I had something that resembled a site, life was good, so I thought! We closed a few years later.
Now my bakery didn’t close because because of my poorly designed website but the point I am trying to make is that running a small business is tough enough without having to think about web marketing, web design, search engine optimization, paid search, conversions, remarkable content, analytic’s social media & reputation management. The web has changed allot since I owned my bakery, instead of just having a website you need a strong web presence. You are looking for a competitive business advantage aren’t you? I can help!
If I knew then what I knew now, I could have been a contender.
When I was trying to promote my business, I didn’t have social media marketing tools like Twitter, Facebook, & Linkedin. If you are not utilizing social media to market your business, engage your customers, attract new business you are missing a boatload of potential business. I can help you harness the power of the social web into your marketing strategy so that you can start building brand champions.
The one thing that is lacking from most business websites is function.
In order to be effective your website needs to be optimized so that it can be found when someone searches for it. Most small business websites are designed by graphic artists who may not understands the complexities of a search engine algorithm. I understand both.
In order to be successful your website needs to do this.
Most website owners have been trained to judge website success or failure by the number of page views and visitors it receives, and they couldn’t be more wrong. Visitors and page views are important but if those page views and visitors don’t convert(take an action) it doesn’t matter how many visitors come to your site! I can help you create a strategy to turn web visitors into buyers.
So what do web strategy and baking have in common?
Baking and web design could not be farther apart, in terms of the competencies and disciplines that each require. When I was a baker I wanted to create the best tasting baked goods possible. As a designer and strategist I want to create the best possible web presence for your business. I am just as passionate and enthusiastice about web development and strategy as I was about making a loaf of bread.
Bet you didn’t know when you create a loaf of bread from scratch you actually create a living breathing organism.
